Jeffrey Kalinas
Vegetarian Production Chef
Ross Island, Antarctica
Wherever people are they must eat, so here I am. My name is Jeffrey Kalinas and for the past 13 months I've been the vegetarian production chef at McMurdo Station on Ross Island, Antarctica, working through Raytheon Polar Services to support the National Science Foundation. Here I tailor a menu which sustains the scientists in this extreme environment. It is very cold but the views are amazing.
I graduated from the Montpelier campus in 2002 and consider that time in my life one of the best choices I've made so far. The uncompromising work ethic and confidence I left with are a asset in any kitchen anywhere in the world.
I'll never forget the chef instructors at NECI. My passion for cooking is a reflection
of them. Click on a thumbnail below for a closer look at my photos.
